![]() ![]() The Deceptions were Cybertronians who were displaced off of their planet. This is more of a headcanon than an actual reflection/review, but hot damn it would've been fun to see how they would write a TFA Megatron redemption arc. IDW Megatron is/was one of the most vicious versions of Megatron, so it's interesting to see if he deserves to live on to be known as a "good guy". We're reminded of his crimes and cruelty in flashbacks (Fulcrum? Grindcore?), even if Autobot Megatron is amazingly great. However, even though IDW Megatron is my favorite character in the Transformers franchise, I feel like his death will still be well deserved. Like he did not expect/want anyone to save him There was just a panel where he was just. I have no doubt that he was trying to die after using the antimatter. In issue 55, we saw him correcting one of his greatest mistakes, even if it might kill him: The DJD. IDW Megatron hasn't exactly taking responsibility for his actions when he flew off with the LL, but instead of living like a hermit like TFP:Megatron he's is trying to build things for himself, and now begrudgingly his new crew. Unlike TFP Megatron, IDW Megatron lives with his mistakes every single day instead of flying off and being a recluse. Right now I am most invested in is the IDW comic version of Megatron. (I have trouble believing that TFP Megatron rallied anyone). In the end, Megatron just basically got away with starting a war he might not have believed in, treating everyone like shit (not just the vehicons see Starscream, Predaking, Breakdown, etc) and got to fly off after being humbled for like, what? Half a day? I felt like it could be so easy to redeem TFP Megatron if they did not make him such a madman. ![]() Wasn't his and Orion's backstory about fighting oppression in the first place? That was a total cop out. What I am upset about, however, was the line "now that I have faced true oppression.". Granted, TFP did get their 4th season cancelled (very salty), so having Megatron fly off after being revived after being possessed my Unicron wasn't the /worst/ thing they could have concluded his character with. In Transformers Prime, if they wanted to redeem Megatron they did it very poorly. How can a genocidal warlord be redeemed? And how do you feel about it? This is something I mull over from time to time. ![]()
